Banque Nationale de Mauritanie (BNM), is a local Mauritanian bank, established in 1989 in the capital, Nouakchott, due to the merger of BIMA and SMB, the two largest banks in that period, and its capital reached more than 6 billion Mauritanian ouguiya, and the bank provides traditional banking services that meet the needs of customers, and in 2008 it began providing Islamic banking services that comply with the provisions of Islamic sharia, through branches distributed in most regions of the country.
